Dwyane Wade Honored with a Statue in Miami

Dwyane Wade is now officially immortalized in bronze, becoming the first Miami Heat player to have a statue outside the team’s arena. The tribute was unveiled on Sunday, marking Wade’s legacy as the franchise’s all-time leading scorer and a three-time NBA champion.
However, fans couldn’t help but notice that the statue...doesn’t exactly look like Wade. Social media had a field day comparing the bronze figure to anything but the Heat legend, leaving many wondering if the artist had even met Wade.

Still, there's no debate about Wade's deserving place in Miami’s history.
The guard, who spent 15 of his 16 NBA seasons with the Heat, cemented his status as one of the all-time greats. Averaging 22.7 points, 5.4 assists, and 4.7 rebounds over 948 games, Wade was a vital part of Miami’s championship runs, two of which came during the iconic “Big Three” era with LeBron James and Chris Bosh.
Another Worry for Golden State

Golden State Warriors fans are holding their breath as Stephen Curry undergoes an MRI for a left ankle sprain suffered during Sunday’s 112-104 loss to the LA Clippers. Coach Steve Kerr said Curry described the injury as mild or moderate, but given his history with ankle issues, there’s understandable concern about how much time he might miss.

Before exiting, Curry logged 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting, knocking down four 3-pointers and dishing six assists. His absence would be a huge blow to the Warriors, who rely on his shooting and leadership.
Buddy Hield, the team’s spark off the bench, shared his thoughts with ESPN. “We’ve just got to stick together. It’ll be a great challenge.”
Hield’s been on fire this season, averaging 19 points in just over 20 minutes per game and hitting 53% from deep. If Curry misses time, Hield may need to step up in a bigger role to keep the Warriors afloat.
Maxey's Heroics Help Sixers Get in the Win Column

The Philadelphia 76ers avoided a winless start to the season, thanks to Tyrese Maxey’s breakout performance. Maxey erupted for 45 points, lifting the Sixers to a hard-fought 118-114 overtime win over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday.
It wasn’t smooth sailing early on for Maxey, he began 2-for-11 from the field, coming into the game with a rough shooting stretch (29.6% from the field, 19% from three). But when it mattered most, he found his rhythm.
Caleb Martin chipped in 17 points and 12 boards, while Andre Drummond grabbed 17 rebounds and added nine points. The Sixers are still without Joel Embiid (managing a left knee issue) and Paul George (recovering from a knee bone bruise), making Maxey’s clutch performance even more critical as Philly improved to 1-2.
The Sixers return home Wednesday to face the Detroit Pistons, hoping to build momentum.
Thunder Make Statement with Win over Hawks

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander just keeps delivering for the Oklahoma City Thunder. In a battle of unbeaten teams, SGA nearly notched a triple-double, finishing with 35 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists to lead OKC to a 128-104 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.
Chet Holmgren shined as well, tallying 25 points, nine rebounds, and six blocks in his best performance yet. Jalen Williams added 20 points and nine boards. OKC closed the game in dominant fashion, outscoring Atlanta 39-18 in the final quarter while holding the Hawks to just 6-of-20 shooting in the period.
Trae Young, who had been red-hot through Atlanta’s first two games, was limited to 24 points and eight assists, struggling against the Thunder’s relentless defense. Meanwhile, No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher continued his steady start, scoring 13 points and pulling down six rebounds for the Hawks.
With both teams off to promising starts, OKC’s early-season dominance signals that they may be ready to make a serious push in the West this year.
Nets Secure First Win for Rookie Coach Jordi Fernandez

Jordi Fernandez picked up his first career win as an NBA head coach on Sunday, as the Nets defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 115-102 in their home opener. Fernandez, the rookie head coach from Badalona, Spain, shared that the game ball from the victory will go in his office.
"My wife does a great job decorating the house, and she doesn’t want my basketball stuff in there," Fernandez joked after the game.
Cam Thomas powered the Nets with 32 points, and Dennis Schroder added 29 to lead Brooklyn’s offense. With his family and friends in attendance, Fernandez reflected on the journey that brought him to this moment. The Nets, now 1-2, will look to build on this performance as the season progresses.
Kevin Durant Joins NBA’s 29,000-Point Club

Kevin Durant reached another milestone Saturday night, becoming just the eighth player in NBA history to score 29,000 career points. Durant hit the mark during the Phoenix Suns’ 114-102 win over the Dallas Mavericks, adding 31 points to his career total, which now stands at 29,010.
Durant’s name now joins an exclusive list of NBA legends: LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, and Wilt Chamberlain. Reflecting on his achievement, Durant expressed gratitude to those who have supported him throughout his career.
"I’ve got to give credit to the people who helped me since I was a kid, teammates, coaches, everyone along the way.”
Over his 17-season career with Seattle, Oklahoma City, Golden State, Brooklyn, and now Phoenix, Durant has averaged 27.3 points across 1,064 games. As one of the NBA’s greatest scorers, he continues to solidify his legacy among the game’s elite.

Indiana Fever Part Ways with Christie Sides

The coaching carousel in the WNBA continues. On Sunday, the Indiana Fever announced that they’ve parted ways with head coach Christie Sides after two seasons. The Fever, led by 2024 No. 1 pick Caitlin Clark, returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2016, but their postseason ended with a first-round loss to the Connecticut Sun.

Sides compiled a 33-47 record, including a solid 20-20 campaign in 2024, but the team decided to move in a different direction. Indiana started the season slowly, going 1-8 in May, but found its rhythm by mid-season, recording the third-best league record (18-9) from June through September. Their offensive rating soared to the top of the WNBA after the Olympic break, thanks largely to Clark’s brilliance and the efforts of 2023 Rookie of the Year Aliyah Boston.
With All-Star Kelsey Mitchell approaching free agency and a new front office led by GM Amber Cox and President Tamika Catchings Krauskopf, the Fever are set for a new chapter in 2025 under fresh leadership. Indiana now joins the growing list of WNBA teams in search of a head coach, alongside the Sparks, Sky, Dream, Wings, and Mystics.
Aces Restructure Front Office, Part Ways with GM Natalie Williams

The Las Vegas Aces are shaking things up after their quest for a three-peat ended in the semifinals against the New York Liberty. On Saturday, the Aces announced they would not renew the contract of General Manager Natalie Williams, signaling a restructuring of their front office.
Williams, who was hired in 2022 alongside head coach Becky Hammon, played a key role in building the Aces’ back-to-back championship teams in 2022 and 2023. In her statement, Williams expressed her gratitude, saying:
“Winning two WNBA Championships with this incredible group of players and staff has been a dream come true. I love the WNBA, and it has been wonderful watching the game grow. I look forward to what lies ahead.”
The Aces were hoping to become the first team since the Houston Comets' dynasty to win three consecutive WNBA titles but were eliminated by the Liberty in four games. With a new direction ahead, the Aces will retool both on and off the court as they continue their pursuit of another championship.
